Iridescent: I like these....

People are squeamish about them, but I love them!  Beautiful beetles, with iridescent wings in peacock greens and blues and rainbow tints.   There is something so precious and Egyptian about the way they look.  I've always loved jewel tones and gems, which are all in at the moment!  have a look at the pictures below.

Above, two beautiful coloured beetles.

Iridescent Mineral Ring from Urban Outfitters, each one is different, mine has a lot more electric blue tones, but all of them are beautiful.

A touch of the garden.

What I love about these interiors is the elements of a garden incorporated within.

As well as the topiary I like the symmetry on the fireplace.  And the gold.

The layers and bunches of plants and foliage.

The over growing tree makes the sensible desk space more fun.

An insect (centipede/millipede - couldn't be bothered to count!).  Would never have though this would work but I really like it!

Table decoration

The picture I took on my mobile phone does not do this sophisticated table decoration at The Four Seasons Hotel in London justice.  I love the orchids and the silver frames and the urn.

My new obsession!

Macarons!  I know they are are constatly blogged about, with pictures, and recipes, but I can't help talking about them again!  Last week I visited Ladurée at Harrods after working there for the day and fell in love everything about this stunning tea salon, from the white marble work tops, gold scroll work around the mirrors, to the mint green and soft pink packaging, the sumptuous cakes and scrumptious macarons!
Unfortunately taking pictures was not allowed so these images are from the Ladurée website

Distractions!

I know this blogpost is late in two ways.  Number one I have not blogged in absoloutely ages.  Secondly, it's 23.02.   I don't normally blog this late but I feel I have no choice, as my family are sitting here watching this awful horror movie Insidious.  I started watching it with them and then realised it was just too creepy!  I'm just too scared to go upstairs on my own until they finish so am now surfing the net.  As a distraction I'm here, writing!
Anyway, just this week I was going through some of my old photography sketchbooks and realised how much I missed looking at photography.  One of my favourite photographers is Ruth Thorne Thomsen who specialised in taking fantasy based pinhole photographs.  Her photographs mix images of people, animals,  landmark across vast landspapes.  I love the imaginative qualities of the images and the fact that Thomsen has constructed these little magical scenes!  Looking at the fine details are a perfect way of distracting me!

Woodland

I've been transported back to childhood with Mulberry's new Autumn/Winter collection.  I love the countryside enchanted forest theme they have drawn inspiration from.  The campaign features toadstools, owls and foxes in this grand house with velvet curtains and chairs...a typically English, whimsical theme you would expect from Mulberry and I love it!
