I spent an afternoon doing some vase studies with a charcoal pencil. I tried to capture the how big and full some of the bouquets were, the movement of the flowers, the direction they were growing and the size of the flowers in full bloom. I also tried to pick some unsual vase shapes to make the drawings more interesting. I never normally use charcoal as I don't find it easy to work with but when it was in the form of a pencil which I could sharpen I found it a lot easier as I could be more precise.
